Corita Day is intended to be a welcoming, safe and respectful gathering for people of all ages.

Guests are expected to treat fellow attendees, artists, performers, volunteers, vendors and staff with respect and to follow instructions from event staff, security personnel and emergency personnel.

Harassment, threats, intimidation, discriminatory or abusive conduct, fighting, dangerous behavior, deliberate disruption of activities, damage to property, or behavior that threatens the safety or experience of others will not be tolerated.

CAC reserves the right to deny admission to or remove any individual from the event for conduct that CAC or its authorized event personnel reasonably determine to be unsafe, disruptive, threatening, unlawful or in violation of event policies. Guests who are removed may not re-enter the event.

In an emergency, guests must follow the directions of event staff, security and emergency personnel.

Can I leave Corita Day and come back?

No. Corita Day does not permit re-entry. Once you leave the event site, your admission ends and you will not be permitted to re-enter using the same ticket or registration.

Please plan accordingly and bring anything you may need for the day with you when you arrive.

Will photography and filming take place?

Yes. Photography, video and audio recording will take place throughout Corita Day. CAC documents its programs and may use photographs, video and audio captured at the event for CAC’s archival, educational, editorial, fundraising, promotional, social media and other nonprofit communications purposes.

By entering and attending Corita Day, you acknowledge that you and members of your party may appear in photography or recordings made at the event.

How do I get to Corita Day?

Taking Metro and Public Transportation

SCI-Arc is just a short walk from the Little Tokyo / Arts District Metro Station, served by the Metro A and E lines. Metro is one of the easiest ways to reach Corita Day without worrying about parking. To access Corita Day from the Little Tokyo / Arts District Metro Station:

  • Head south on S Alameda St for one block
  • Turn left onto Traction Ave
  • Head south-east on Traction Ave for four blocks
  • The entrance to Corita Day will be just around the corner on Merrick St

Consider taking the train with friends, using a bus connection, or combining Metro with a short rideshare trip. Visit METRO to plan your route and explore accessible transit options like park and ride.

We encourage guests to consider public transportation or rideshare whenever possible.

Rideshare Drop-Off

We recommend using the following destinations when planning your trip:

  • General rideshare drop-off: SCI-Arc, 960 E. 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013
  • Accessible rideshare drop-off: 350 Merrick Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Guests using wheelchairs, mobility devices, or who would benefit from a closer drop-off are encouraged to use the Merrick Street location. Please follow event signage and staff directions upon arrival.

Driving and Parking

It is a Saturday, but it is still LA. If you are driving, we recommend planning your parking ahead of time. There is no one general event parking location for Corita Day, but several paid lots and garages throughout the Arts District and Little Tokyo (about a 5 minute walk).

Some parking providers allow you to reserve and pay for space in advance, so you can spend less time searching and more time celebrating.

Nearby parking options:

A friendly heads-up about street parking: Street parking is limited and many spaces have two-hour limits. Don't risk a parking ticket while you are having fun with friends! Check posted signs carefully or consider a paid lot and stay awhile.

Are service animals permitted?

Yes. Service animals are welcome at Corita Day in accordance with applicable law. Pets and animals that do not qualify as service animals are not permitted at the event.

Service animals must remain under the control of their handler. Event staff cannot care for or supervise a service animal.

Is Corita Day accessible?

CAC is committed to making Corita Day welcoming and accessible to our community. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the access needs of our guests and provide an accessible experience wherever possible within the event site.

Corita Day takes place entirely outdoors at SCI-Arc on a paved, flat surface. Activities, art-making stations, and vendor areas are wheelchair-accessible. Accessible restrooms will be available on-site.

Guests are welcome to use manual wheelchairs and motorized wheelchairs, scooters, pedal-assist bikes, and adaptive bicycles. Only trained service animals are welcome.

Please note that this event is outdoors, with exposure to sunlight, music, crowds and amplified sound throughout the day. Seating and shaded areas will be available for guests who need a place to rest.

If you or someone in your party requires accommodation or has a specific accessibility need, please contact CAC in advance at info@corita.org so our team can work with you before your visit.

Guests who need assistance while onsite may also speak with a Corita Day staff member at the information booth.

Accessible Parking

The event will have a limited number of designated accessible parking spaces available for guests for free. An advance parking pass is required and spaces will be reserved on a first-come, first served basis. Guests must also display a valid DMV-issued parking placard or license plate to use these spaces. To request a pass, please contact us at info@corita.org. Our team will confirm availability and provide parking details and arrival instructions ahead of the event.

For guests who do not have a reserved space, an accessible passenger drop-off location will be available on Merrick Street.

For safety or capacity reasons, staff may ask that strollers be moved or temporarily parked in designated areas.

Guests attempting to enter with alcohol may be asked to dispose of it or remove it from the premises before entering.

Can I bring my own food and water?

Yes. Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome. We encourage guests to bring water and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Food will also be available for purchase from participating vendors.

Is smoking or vaping permitted?

No. Corita Day is a smoke-free and vape-free event. Smoking, vaping and the use of electronic cigarettes or similar products are not permitted anywhere within the event site.

Because there is no re-entry, guests who leave the event site to smoke or vape will not be permitted to re-enter.

Are the activities at Corita Day hands-on?

Yes! Corita Day includes interactive artmaking, demonstrations, workshops and other participatory activities.

Guests should follow all posted instructions and directions provided by artists, activity leaders, volunteers and event staff. Parents and guardians are responsible for determining whether an activity is appropriate for children in their care and for supervising their children during participation.

Some activities may involve art materials, tools, movement, temporary installations or other conditions ordinarily associated with hands-on creative activities.

Is there any risk associated with attending or participating?

Corita Day is a large public event that includes crowds, outdoor spaces, temporary installations and interactive activities. Participation in activities is voluntary.

By choosing to participate, guests acknowledge that hands-on activities and attendance at a public event will involve contact with art materials or tools, and other risks reasonably associated with the particular activities.

Guests should participate according to their own abilities, follow instructions provided by event staff and activity leaders, and supervise children in their care.

Who is responsible for children attending Corita Day?

Corita Day is a family-friendly event, but parents and guardians remain responsible for the supervision and safety of children in their care at all times. CAC staff, volunteers, artists and activity partners do not assume responsibility for supervising children.

Children should not be left unattended at activity stations or elsewhere within the event site.

What happens if I am injured or need medical assistance?

If you or someone in your party needs assistance, please immediately notify an event staff member or visit the designated First Aid area.

For emergencies, event personnel may contact 911 or other emergency responders.

Is CAC responsible for lost or damaged belongings?

Guests are responsible for keeping track of their personal property while attending Corita Day. Please report lost items to the Info booth.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CAC and its event partners are not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal property brought onto the event site.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Corita Art Center, together with its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents and authorized event partners, shall not be liable for loss of or damage to personal property or for injuries or damages arising from risks ordinarily and inherently associated with voluntary participation in Corita Day activities. Nothing in these terms is intended to waive or limit any right or liability that cannot lawfully be waived or limited.
