About Corita Art Center (CAC):  

Corita Art Center preserves and promotes Corita Kent’s art, teaching, and passion for social justice. Housing the most comprehensive collection of Corita’s serigraphs, watercolors, graphic commissions, and archival materials, the Corita Art Center supports exhibition loans and public programs, oversees image and merchandising rights, sells original prints, and serves as a scholarly resource for her life and work.

Position Summary 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Project Manager will be an integral team member of Corita Art Center, working closely with staff and the board in all areas of operations and strategy. The primary responsibilities of the position include all aspects of conceptualizing, planning, and organizing administrative and project-based needs. The Project Manager will liaise directly with outside partners to help implement CAC’s strategic vision and provide administrative support to projects led by the Executive Director.

This role is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of our center, contributing to our mission of celebrating and promoting the artistic legacy of Corita Kent. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creativity, technical proficiency, and exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a strong administrative background in finance and operations, coupled with a mastery of project management skills, and the ability to effectively oversee staff and multiple projects. This position will also be responsible for general operational support as their activities relate to the mission of CAC. 

 

Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions) 

  • Lead, plan, and oversee all aspects of the projects within the organization from initiation to completion.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operation.
  • Implement and maintain financial and operational procedures and systems to maximize efficiency and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with different departments to identify project needs, set objectives, and resolve problems.
  • Oversee and support staff, providing guidance, and ensuring professional growth and development.
  • Regularly report project status to the Executive Director, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful project completion.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring that all projects meet the desired quality and are delivered on time and within budget.

Administrative Support

  • Manage and maintain the organizational calendar, including scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • As needed, act as a liaison between the Executive Director and other staff members, external partners, and visitors.
  • Prepare and edit correspondence, communications, presentations, meeting briefs, and other documents on behalf of the Executive Director.
  • Responsible for providing support to projects that contribute to the success of CAC's mission and strategic goals.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations; oversee office supply orders and vendor relationships as needed. 

E-Commerce Support

  • Oversee the online store, including product listings, inventory management, and customer inquiries.
  • Coordinate with fulfillment and shipping partners to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Act as customer service as needed to ensure a positive experience with e-commerce clients.
  • Utilize analytics tools to track sales performance and generate reports.

Development and Programming  

  • Ensure success of events, campaigns, and grants in partnership with the Public Programs Curator and Development Coordinator.
  • Develop and drive new and innovative community engagement programs and fundraising campaigns.
  • Identify and pursue, with the Executive Director, new funding sources to increase contributed revenue and diversify income.

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Operational support and vendor management for the opening of Corita Art Center’s new location in Fall 2024
  • CAC Board administrative support; as needed.
  • Act as first point of contact for guests visiting Corita Art Center
  • Assist in drafting, copyediting and distributing external communications.
  • Performs general administrative duties such as filing, copying, running errands, and general data entry as it relates to marketing, education, programming, and website.
  • Completes special projects and basic research as assigned.  
  • Completes all other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and skill required for the job.

The duties of this position are subject to change and may be modified based on the needs of the business. 

Qualifications 

Minimum Education, Training, and Traits: 

  • BA in Business Administration preferred. A master’s degree is a plus; related finance, project management, public administration or non-profit work experience welcomed.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multi-disciplinary perspectives. 
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in an art museum, commercial gallery, or collections-centered organization required; two (2) to three (3) years of experience welcomed.
  • Experience developing and executing public programs and fundraising events.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing diverse, high-performing teams and external vendors.
  • The ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities is imperative.
  • Extensive proposal writing experience and fluency with social media, marketing, graphic design concepts and related software programs. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to compose succinct and accurate business correspondence. 
  • Critical thinker who is highly organized and possesses strong analytical skills. 
  • Comfortable working in a lean but efficient team
  • Knowledge and understanding of art history, design history, and arts education a plus.
  • Highly attentive to detail and able to work collaboratively. 
  • Interest in visual art is required.

 

Licenses and Certifications: 

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required. 
  • Valid work authorization in the U.S. 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel 
  • Familiarity with current trends, issues, and best practices in the field of the visual arts 
  • Superior Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and other graphic design software a plus welcomed.
  • Knowledge of digital communication platforms (social media, email marketing, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Must have excellent attendance and punctuality. 
  • Strong organizational skills and analytical skills 
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. 
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically. 
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Physical Demands:  In the work environment described herein, the position requires good eye/hand coordination and working at a desk, and utilizing a computer for prolonged periods of time. The position also requires verbal and written conversation with others, standing, climbing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving objects up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.

  • Work Environment:  The majority of work will be performed in a hybrid model, an at-home environment, with days required at the CAC offices. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Work requires occasional independent travel to and from off-site meetings and events.  Occasional weekend, evening, and night work hours are also required. CAC wants to ensure the health and safety of all workers in the workplace and therefore follows local orders, state regulations, and guidance from government agencies like the CDC, OSHA, EEOC, and local health authorities.  

  • Employees are required to complete a criminal background check and provide at least three work references. This position may interface with the public with all precautions and considerations to address COVID-19. The health and safety of all is our primary goal and consideration. All precautions and protocols will meet LA County requirements.
